- with a lack of constructor teams due to Alfa Romeo withdrawing for the season, F2 regulations were used instead for the F1 season of 1952. In order to accommodate with regulation changes, Ferrari developed a new 4 cylinder in-line engine and a new machine to house the engine - the 500F2. The 500F2 would win both the 1952 and 1953 seasons under the hands of driver Alberto Ascari. Ascari managed to win all races in the 1952 season starting from the 3rd round, allowing him to be crowned the first Ferrari F1 champion after 6 straight victories.
