JOE HONDA Racing Pictorial Series by HIRO No.30 : McLaren MP4/5 1989: The Racing Pictorial Series books of the Japanese photographer Joe Honda look at the Formula 1 races of past decades. Each issue clearly describes the vehicles, their use in the individual races of the season and the drivers and teams. Due to the many, partly unpublished shots of details and technique of the cars the books are an inexhaustible reservoir of information for all modelers, who are interested in historic racing.
Due to the regulation changed, turbo is now prohibited and changed to natural aspiration engines in the 1989 season. Honda developed a 3.5L V10 RA109-E engine, together with new technology like semi-automatic transmission. The performance is so outstanding that suppressed the rivals, like Ferrari, which is still working on the new technologies.
