The Honda Racing returned to the Moto GP WGP500 class in the year 1979. They brought along with them the NR500(NR1), the challenging construction (such as the oval piston, monocoque frame, coaxial pivot, side radiator, inverted suspension, etc.) at that time. Although it only run a few races only and not getting a good result, the NR1 is the legendary machine of the modern Honda Racing, and the starting point of the glorious age.
